Getting “back to its roots,” Backstage Players Company announces its first children’s show since 2009, Scrooge’s Christmas Carol. The work will be a musical adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic. The show will premiere Friday, December 20 at 7:00. Two shows (2:00 and 7:00) are scheduled for Saturday, December 21 and the final show will be a Sunday, December 22 matinee at 2:00. All performances will be at Andrews Memorial Theater at Clinton Town Hall, 54 East Main Street.
Auditions for all parts will be Friday, September 20 between 5:00 – 8:00 at Brown School, Madison and Saturday, September 21 between 1:00 – 4:00 at the Guilford Community Center. Prospective cast members should be between seven and 16 years of age. Many speaking and singing roles will be available. No appointments are necessary.
“Since we have expanded our horizons to produce main-stream Broadway plays, we have inadvertantly lost our connection to many of the young children that helped build our theater,” said Ed Hobson, President of Backstage Players. “It is our intention to, once again, do a children’s play. Also, it has always been our dream to produce a Christmas play. Scrooge’s Christmas Carol gives us the opportunity to do both.”
Tickets for the show are $15.00 and $12.00 (students) and are available through all cast members, on line, at area merchants and at the door. Additional information may be found on this site, or email email@example.com.
