Backstage Players Company is very pleased to announce that it has named Jim Kane to its Board of Directors. Jim has been associated with the BPC family for many years as a director, actor and technical crew specialist. He brings experience, creative vision and expertise to the decision making group.
“Jim’s appointment was really a no-brainer from our perspective,” said Ed Hobson, BPC Board President. “He has been a member of our family for a very long time and has always supported us with the utmost skill. Now, he’s been put in a position where he can really help positively impact our future.”
Most recently, Jim directed our very successful production of, The Sound of Music. Prior to that he played Bert Healy in Annie and Will Parker, in Oklahoma!, where he was nominated for a prestigious Theater World Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical.
Jim said, “It’s been a great time working my way up from “sound guy” to board member, and I couldn’t be more excited to see what the future of BPC holds!”
Jim is the owner, operator and producer and director of Swing Bridge Arts Alliance in East Haddam, CT. Historically, Swing Bridge has produced an annual musical each July. Jim is the branch manager of Citizen’s Bank in Deep River, CT. He holds a degree in Musical Theater and a degree in Legal Studies from The University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Jim lives in East Hampton, CT.
The Backstage Players Board of Directors is charged with making all decisions, administrative, financial and creative, on behalf of the company. Jim rounds out the group, which currently consists of five members. The other members are Ed Hobson, Mark Gilchrist, Ellyn VanderWyden and Jeri Minutillo.
